Tito Nobleza’s Portraits and Figures
Opens at Amigo Plaza Mall today
TITO P. NOBLEZA is one of the most sought after portrait artists in the country today. Born in Cairohan, Bingawan, Iloilo on February 14, 1956, this 53 year old artist managed to make it in Manila thru sheer determination and perseverance.
Just like any other artist, his formative years were spent drawing school projects. His teachers eventually noticed Tito’s talent and he ended up doing most of the school artworks requirements. He was voted artist of the year for four consecutive years (1st-4th year) given by Iloilo High School. During his college days at Iloilo School of Arts and Trade, he used to watch, after class, those artists doing cinema ads in downtown Iloilo. Right there and then he decided to become a full time artist. After graduating from college, he decided not to practice his profession (architectural drafting), but instead he put up a sign shop at Calinog Public Market. It was quite profitable then. He was able to go abroad as a sign painter. After two (2) years, with enough capital and determination, he put up a portrait shop at Sheraton Hotel. This marks a tremendous boost for him as an artist where most celebrities and politicians, as well as businessman preferred his style of portraiture. Among his valued clients were the matriarch of FF Cruz and Senator Ping Lacson. He was able to do portraits of various presidents (Aquino, Ramos, Estrada and Arroyo) and tycoons (Henry Sy, John Gokongwei, Lucio Tan etc). He was able to purchase a house and lot and send his kids to school because of his work.
After his stint with Sheraton Hotel, He put up a shop at Harrison Plaza. Having established himself as a portrait artist, he took up painting seriously and joined a group (Las Pinas Artist Society) in 2004. He also tried to reach out with his fellow Ilonggos after the Alumni Association, Inc. of WVCST (Western Visayas School of Science and Technology) awarded him as one of the Most Outstanding Alumni in the Field of Visual Arts in its Centennial Celebration.
To date, Tito was able to join 22 art exhibitions and was able to establish himself as a foremost realist painter commanding high prices for his portraits and paintings. To help his fellow Ilongos, together with fellow alumni, they put up the Alumni Artist’s guild of WVCST (Western Visayas College of Science and Technology) of which he is the current president. Last may of 2009, he joined the prestigious GSIS painting competition and ended up as a finalist.
Tito will mount his very first one-man show entitled “Portraits & Figures-A Homecoming’ at the event center of Amigo Plaza Mall on November 20 to 26, 2009. His first one-man art exhibition is presented by Amigo Plaza Mall in cooperation with Amigo Terrace Hotel and organized by TMX-your travel and marketing experts.
