Mono Team bares complete slate for 2010 polls
BACOLOD CITY — The Monico-Novero tandem popularly known as the Mono Team officially launched their slate for the upcoming 2010 elections yesterday at the Bacolod Pavillion Hotel.
Bacolod Lone District Congressman Monico Puentevella and former Vice Mayor Renecito Novero led their first public appearance as a team with their campaign manager former Mayor Luzviminda Valdez, Atty. Rene ‘Papang’ Novero, father of Atty. Novero, former Vice Mayor Chick Garcia and Puentevella’s wife Patching.
The activity centered on the announcement of their complete slate from vice mayor down to twelve councilors since the Puentevella-Novero tandem has been publicized and publicly known few months ago.
Mono Team declared the three-termer Councilor Atty. Ana Marie Palermo as their vice-mayoralty candidate.
The group’s twelve bets for city councilor are as follows: Catalino Alisbo, incumbent councilor; former 3-termer councilor Atty. Archie Baribar; Bong Dilag, former DILG Regional Director; barangay leader Elcid Familiaran; broadcaster Buen Gallenero; civic leader Nanette Garcia, former councilor Bobbie Lucasan, businessman Totong Regalado, broadcaster Marlo Solidum, former 3-termer councilor Elemer Sy and former Councilor Sonya Verdeflor.
Puentevella boasted that their team has credibility which makes him proud of the group although they came from different walks of life and sectors of society.
“We are the team for the attainment of our vision for a ‘New Bacolod’ that is always against any loans using the name of the poor and at the expense of the taxpayers,” Puentevella stressed.
Novero, on the hand, defended his stand in joining the Puentevella camp. He was with Grupo Progreso of Mayor Evelio Leonardia last 2007 elections.
Novero knew that it was God’s plan as he described Puentevella as an unusual legislator passing 15 legislations on his stint in Congress as well benefited thousands of people through Monico Kabuhi Ko (MKK) – the medical flagship program of the congressional office.
“I know that it’s hard for me to step into his big shoes (referring to Puentevella),” Novero added.
Their team also was described by Novero as the Crusade of Renaissance.
Mono Team vice mayoralty candidate Atty. Palermo said made she is very honored and privileged to be with the Mono Team.
For 20 years in public service, from Public Attorney’s Office down to the halls of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, Palermo had been the defender of women and the oppressed.
She assured that if given the chance she will serve as full time vice mayor since she is still single.
