Bacolod’s Solid Waste Mgmt Committee attend environment summit
The Bacolod City Solid Waste Management Committee attended the 4th Regional Solid Waste Management Summit held in Iloilo City recently.
The two-day summit, with the theme “Environmental Education: Our Challenge to Act on Climate Change”, focused on the implementation of the Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
Dr. Neric Acosta, a professor of Asian Institute of Management, presented a comprehensive study on climate change and its effects to the environment. Also discussed during the summit were the emerging technologies for solid waste management, the importance of dumpsite closure for climate change mitigation, solid waste management relative to climate change, media landscape on solid waste management in urban centers of region 6, and solid waste management best practices among others.
