Aquino hits Bolante for using father’s name
ROXAS CITY – Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III slammed former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante for using his father’s name, Ninoy Aquino, Jr., as proponent and one of the beneficiaries of fertilizer in their hometown Tarlac in 2004.
“How come my father was one of the proponents of fertilizer in 2004 since he died in 1983,” Aquino repeatedly said at Capiz Gym at Villareal Stadium and Sigma Civic Center where thousands of Capiceños attended.
Aquino, running for president, Sen. Mar Roxas for vice president and two Liberal Party (LP) senatoriables, namely, former Bukidnon Cong. Neric Acosta and Akbayan party list Rep. Riza Hontiveros were here last Tuesday to declare the local LP bets in Roxas City, 1st and 2nd districts of Capiz.
Aquino assured the Capiceños that if he becomes president the province of Capiz will get many projects.
He also said that if reelectionist Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. goes to Malacañang he will be the one to fetch him, but if Bolante, once elected, goes to Malacañang he will let the presidential guard to fetch him.
In reaction to Aquino’s statement, former Governor Jose “Ting” Borda, trusted political ally of Bolante, said the statement only shows that Noynoy “doesn’t have any grasp on the need of the Capiznons. He doesn’t have any concrete program, local or national! Only personalities! A very bad trait of character to lead the Filipino nation! He should center his attention to our national problems and its proper solution! So help him God.”
Bolante, who is vice chair of Ugyon Kita Capiz, will be facing Gov. Tanco, Sr. in the 2010 gubernatorial race in Capiz.
