BACOLOD CITY — Three municipal police station chiefs are slated to be relieved from their posts this week as the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), in a bid to put the right man for the right job, gears up for the upcoming 2010 national and local polls.
NOPPO public information officer Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr said that those chiefs of police who are up for transfer are Police Senior Inspector Jose Laboyo of Manapla PNP, Police Senior Inspector Arnold Mesias of the Hinoba-an Police Station and Police Inspector Teddy Velez of the La Castellana PNP.
Laboyo has served more than the required two years as police chief of Manapla town while Mesias is set to assume the post of head of the Anti-Loose Firearms Task Group of NOPPO’s Special Operations Task Force.
On the other hand, Velez is being groomed to act as deputy group director of the 613th Provincial Mobile Group based in Hinigaran town which is currently being headed by Police Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel as group director.
Set to replace the three junior officers are Police Inspectors Edencio Gregorio (Manapla), Roberto Mansueto (Hinoba-an) and Romeo Vargas (La Castellana).
Negros Occidental PNP provincial director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix added that more chiefs of police in the province are expected to be reassigned at the start of the campaign period next year including those who are considered overstaying as well as those who have relatives running for elective posts in their areas of jurisdiction.
However, Felix stressed that reassignment of police chiefs in the province will be done in consultation with local chief executives of the 19 municipalities and 12 cities in Negros Occidental to ensure a swift and harmonious turn-over of command to the next chief of police.
