Dadivas blames LP defections to Del Rosario-Bermejo rift
ROXAS CITY – Former Cong. Rodriquez “Roging” Dadivas claimed that the root cause why Liberal Party (LP) suffered factionalism was the rift between City Mayor Vicente Bermejo and 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario.
“That’s the result of the absence of consultation among members, he only listened to a few people,” Dadivas said referring to Liberal Party president Sen. Mar Roxas.
According to him, in Panitan, Mayor Kit Belo and Vice Mayor Roso Deramas were intrigued to have bolted from LP “but in fact these Panitan officials are loyal to the party starting from their parents” Dadivas said.
Presently, 12 out of 17 mayors joined former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante’s Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC).
Dadivas, who filed his COC last Tuesday (see related story), said that he is ready for whatever consequences as a result of his decision to run against the LP.
He added that he welcomed whatever will be the party’s decision against his son Ronnie whether or not they will expel him from the party.
Earlier, LP hierarchy assured that it will still protect and support Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas on his reelection bid under the banner of the party despite of his father’s decision to run as congressman.
The younger Dadivas, who is at odds with his father, reportedly pledged to the LP that he will junk his father and will still support his party mate Rep. Del Rosario’s bid.
Meanwhile, businessman Romulo Capunong is also disappointed with the Roxases for they also promised the former to have a slot as board member in the first district of Capiz.
Capunong, who owns 32 branches of RCL marketing nationwide, said during the press conference that he was supposed to run as mayor in Panitan but deferred his intention to run as he was promised by LP of the said slot.
Capunong vowed to support Dadivas’ congressional bid to show his disappointment to the LP hierarchy.
