Treñas appoints Duron as new TF Adam’s Apple head
Mayor Jerry Treñas replaced Councilor Ely Estante as chair of the Task Force Adam’s Apple effective December 1, 2009. He was replaced by former Bakhaw Barangay Captain George Duron.
Treñas said he relieved Estante from the task force to give him more time to campaign. He said allowing the councilor from continuing his function as head of the task force will only affect his campaign efforts.
He said it is better for him to give the function to other people than to let Estante handle the executive function. The decision to appoint and replace a task force chairman is an executive privilege, said Treñas.
The order appointing Duron as head of the task force came on the day Estante filed his certificate of candidacy along with the Lakas-CMD-Kampi candidates of the Gonzalez-Gonzalez tandem.
On his part, Duron said he is still reviewing the functions of a task force head. The creation of the Task Force Adam’s Apple started during the time of former Mayor Mansueto Malabor.
Duron, is only one of the former barangay officials in the city who is supporting Treñas and his group.
Nevertheless, Duron said he is willing to work as chairman and enforce all the ordinances that correspond with the establishment of the task force.
On the other hand, Estante said one would not expect that the mayor will let him continue his work as TF head. It is an additional work other than his legislative works.
He said he has done his part when assigned as TF head. He also urged Duron to take care of the task force and never let the office be dragged in controversies.
