Trenas’s birthday wish: Ilonggos’ continuing support
As he turns 53 years old today, Mayor Jerry Treñas wishes for the Ilonggos’ continuing cooperation and support in realizing the vision in making Iloilo City a premier city by 2015.
Treñas said the cooperative stance of the people will bring further progress and development to the city. He is thankful to the support given to him for his more than eight and half years of service as mayor. Next year he will complete his three-term tenure.
His birthday celebration starts today with a mass at the food court of the Robinson’s Place. Merienda will be served to those who want to spare time for the mayor’s special day. His supporters are expected to troop to the mall and greet him.
Treñas said he never dragged the city into controversy in his reign. The city even reaped several awards internationally. The city earned the respect abroad with the way the affairs of the government is being run.
The mayor admitted the decision in running for the congressional race was very difficult to make. Nevertheless, his decision was prompted by several calls for him to seek higher elective post after he will end his term as mayor.
The mayor becomes a political nemesis of the Gonzalezes after he bravely pursued his congressional plan against incumbent Representative Raul Gonzalez Jr.
