‘Free zone’ eyed in Panitan 2010 polls
ROXAS CITY – “Free zone” will probably be declared in Panitan relative to the one-on-one fight in mayoral race between incumbent Mayor Katherine “Kit” Belo and challenger Tingcupon Punong Barangay Richard “Bantit” Dadivas.
A political analyst told The News Today (TNT) that Belo, being an LP bet in Panitan, will support its party’s standard bearers like reelectionists 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario and Governor Victor Tanco, Sr. and runningmate Board Member Nonoy Contreras for governor and five board member candidates.
On the other hand, Dadivas will also support Del Rosario, Tanco and the rest of five board members of LP.
Belo, whose runningmate is reelectionist Vice Mayor Generoso Deramas, have 14 barangay captains supporters while Dadivas with runningmate Poblacion Brgy. Captain Oliver Delfin, has also 12 village chief executives.
During the Liga ng mga Barangay election in 2007, Dadivas and Belo had 13 village chiefs supporters each however, the former was trimmed down into 12 when Quios Brgy. Captain Dante Del Mendo was shot dead.
By law of succession Del Mendo was replaced by 1st Brgy Kagawad Rolando Besorio who was also gunned down last two months ago. Reportedly, the 2nd kagawad who assumed as Quios chief executive is a supporter of Belo bringinging her supporters to a total of 14.
Belo was linked to former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante because her mother, former Mayor Josefina Dorado Dequiña, is a relative of Bolante’s wife.
Belo strongly denied supporting Bolante and vowed to support LP bets in 2010 election.
According to the same political analyst, LP hierarchy is behind Dadivas and his group to ensure their victory in Panitan.
