Divinagracia: I’m still president of ABC City Proper
Punong Barangay Roberto “Bobby” Divinagracia yesterday denied reports that he was already unseated by Hughes Barangay Captain Romualdo Jalandoni as Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) City Proper president.
In a phone interview, Divinagracia said he has no idea about Jalandoni’s alleged election as the new ABC president. He said he has yet to meet the 45 barangay captains of the city proper district.
Yesterday, there were reports spreading at the Iloilo City Hall on the alleged election that took place Wednesday which purportedly installed Jalandoni as the new president of the ABC City Proper.
The News Today tried to call Jalandoni and Liga ng Mga Barangay President Irene Ong to confirm the report, but to no avail. Jalandoni and Ong are strong supporters of Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr. and incumbent Congressman Raul Gonzalez Jr.
Divinagracia said if the report is indeed true, the organizers of the alleged election among the barangay captains should have informed him of their plans. He maintains he is still president of the ABC City Proper.
Divinagracia said it depends on whether Mayor Jerry Treñas will recognize the alleged new ABC president.
Divinagracia is one of the ABC presidents in Iloilo City allegedly subjected to ouster after they bolted out of the Gonzalez camp and joined Mayor Treñas.
Divinagracia is one of the candidates for city councilor under the ticket of Treñas and vice mayoral candidate Councilor Jose Espinosa III.
