Ally blames GMA for lack of projects in Capiz
ROXAS CITY – An ally of Sen. Mar Roxas blamed President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for not giving the former his Country Wide Development Funds (CDF) or pork barrel, resulting to an alleged lack of projects in Capiz, particularly in Roxas City.
Provincial Administrator Zoe Herrera said that Roxas has brought P1-billion-peso worth of projects in Capiz and Roxas City from 1993 -1998 before he was appointed Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary.
He added that Sen. Roxas was stripped off of his pork barrel since 2005 up to the present after he became an opposition and a staunch critic of the President.
“I think several mayors are living witnesses of Sen. Mar Roxas’ projects,” Herrera said in a radio interview.
Earlier, Bermejo said that the development projects poured by his administration did not have a counterpart nor was aided by Sen. Mar Roxas, 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario and Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr.
Bermejo said this during the turnover of checks for the water system in Santo Niño Homeowner’s Association in New Road Banica and Milibili, Roxas City.
Bermejo turned over the check in the amount of P102,000 for Banica and P397.995.00 for the Urban Poor Homeowners’ Association, with Phase 1 to 4 benefiting from its water system.
Accordingly, the Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) has a 50 percent counterpart for the pipes installed in the two areas.
In reaction to Bermejo’s statements, Del Rosario said that he left P140 million to the city during his stint as mayor. He added that the former’s accomplishment was the replacement of all city post lamps.
Del Rosario also accused Bermejo of having a drainage project which he cannot pinpoint until now.
Last week, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited Roxas City to grace ground breaking ceremony of the flood control project in Banica, which is worth P40 million.
The city mayor also thanked the President for the varied projects poured in the city.
Bermejo, a former LP member, left the party after Sen. Mar Roxas anointed former City Vice Mayor Allan Celino as bet. He later joined the Ugyon Kita Capiz of Former Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante.
