Oton named best performing LGU in WV
The Department of Interior and Local Government adjudged the Municipality of Oton as the best performing local government unit in Western Visayas during the recent Pagdayaw 2009 held at the Iloilo Grand hotel.
DILG Undersecretary Austere Panadero and Director Evelyn Trompeta gave the award to Oton Mayor Vicente Flores, Jr. on the occasion attended by the local officials in Region 6. Oton was also given a special award of excellence in economic development, first runner up in social services and special award on legislative performance.
According to Mayor Flores, he was so jubilant after receiving the numerous awards and that it’s the first time given to the municipality. This will be a big challenge for them to continue in delivering the basic services for the people, the first-termer mayor said. Flores is running unopposed in the 2010 elections.
The Pagdayaw event is spearheaded by the DILG to give recognition to the performing local government units.
