Bridging of Libas and Culasi planned
ROXAS CITY – City Mayor Vicente Bermejo said that his administration, through the help of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, will connect Brgy. Libas and Culasi by putting up a bridge which will help the residents directly reach the areas without passing the city.
This was bared by Bermejo during his coffee talk with the local media held at his office last Wednesday.
According to him, he requested this from the President, who visited the city earlier. The President was here to give P20-million for the city’s drainage system.
Bermejo said that the river is 150 meters wide and it will have a 90-meter bridge. A landfill would connect the circumferential road in Nuevo Culasi.
Bermejo said that the Nuevo Culasi was included in the plan set by Sen. Mar Roxas when he (Roxas) was still 1st district congressman. Bermejo said he is determined to push this.
It was learned that Nuevo Culasi was opposed by Cong. Antonio Del Rosario, saying that it is not suited as a relocation site because it could cause water pollution, thereby affecting marine life in the area.
The 1st congressman also accused Bermejo for having a ‘ghost project’ on the said circumferential road.
Meanwhile, Bermejo also said that the city government has already lighted 50 percent of city’s main thoroughfares.
