SP approves P43.4M supplemental budget
THE Sangguniang Panlungsod approved in its last Wednesday’s regular the Supplemental Budget No.9 amounting to P43,465,085.68. More than 47 percent of the total budget is intended for the productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) of officials and employees of the city government.
Of the P43,465,085.68 supplemental budget indorsed by Mayor Jerry Trenas to the legislative body, P20,001,679 is allocated for (PEI) or extra cash gift for officials and employees. There are 1,701 regular employees in the city. Each regular employee will receive P30,000 PEI.
The hazard pay of public health workers as mandated by Magna Carta of Public Health Workers (Republic Act 7305) amounting to P4,438,230 was also allocated. The allocation is computed for the six- month period, January to March and October until December. The subsistence/laundry allowance and hazard pay of detailed personnel to the city’s health office reached to P136,691.
An allocation of P6,120,000 to 180 barangays also comprised SB No. 9. It is the city’s Christmas present to barangay officials. Punong barangays will receive P4,000 while barangay kagawads, secretaries and SK chairmen will receive P3,000 each.
The amount of P12,163,778.18 is also intended for the different projects. The project ranges from installation of lighting system, construction of multi-purpose hall, drainage system, construction of motor pool’s bodega among others.
There is also an allocation of P156,175 for the fuel, oil and lubricants of the Philippine National Police and P91,739.50 for the maintenance and other operating expenses of the Traffic Management and Engineering Unit.
An amount of P81,965 is also allocated for the rental of Angeles Arcade. The building houses several city government offices after they vacated the Elizalde building.
The SB No. 9 also allocated five percent for the city’s budgetary reserve which is P54,966 and P219,862 for its 20 percent development projects.
The P43,465,085 budget is taken from the city’s Internal Revenue Allotment for December which is P1,099,307.18. There were also reversion of current year appropriations in the calamity fund amounting to P31,431,648; interest for the supposed construction of new city hall P10,000,000; SWAT equipment and training P386,216 and upgrading project of Mansaya, Bo. Obrero for P300,000.
City Katherine Tingson has already issued a certification on the availability of funds. The city employees are expected to receive their PEI’s after council approved supplemental budget No. 9.
The SB No. 9 indorsed by the chief executive was scrutinized by the committee on appropriations chaired by Councilor Jose Espinosa III prior to its approval. The same was presented by Councilor Perla Zulueta, vice chair of the committee to the council.
