A multi-awarded Iloilo Integrated Christian Ace Int’l School
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” This challenging verse from Matthew 6:21 reverberated throughout the 17th “School of Tomorrow” Philippine National Student Convention held at Legazpi City, Albay last October.
Each student was challenged to seek the true treasure which is Christ Jesus. He gives meaning and purpose to life. If we have accepted him as our Lord and our Saviour in our lives, then we have sought the true treasure.
There were around 4,000 students who attended from over than a hundred schools, nationwide as its first entrance to the National Student Convention, the Iloilo Integrated Christian Ace International School got three representatives: Joseph Armand Celis, Chris John David de Guzman, and Kaira Taleon, though they were only three delegates, they managed to gather nine awards.
The following awards were: Music Instrument – solo string (bowed) – first place; music non-performance – music arranging, third place; and music composition, 7th place; music, vocal, duet mixed, 4th place; platform – oratory, 4th place; poetry recitation, 8th place; academics – essay writing, 5th place; short story writing (Filipino), 11th place; and photography (black and white) – scenic, 15th place.
Glory be to God for enabling the Iloilo Integrated Christian’s Age International School to garner these awards.
The school is also blessed as Christ John David De Guzman, a second year student of the school, will represent the Philippines in the 2010 International Student Convention at the Western Kentucky University located at Bowling Green, Kentucky on May 22-27, 2010.
Most of all, the impact of having the true treasure which is Jesus Christ was emphasized in the 5-day event. Answered prayers were seen because of the Holy Spirit working in the students’ lives. The messages in the rally night were uplifting. Moreover, the devotions in the morning were inspiring.
Truly in Jesus Christ, we have the true treasure in Him lies all the wisdom, and if we apply the Biblical truths in our lives, then we can truly make a difference in other people’s lives in the world.
