Belen making contest at New Government Center on
Six groups are now vying for the P40,000 grand prize in the first ever Belen Making Contest held by the Bacolod City Government. The Belens now occupy a prominent portion at the fountain area in front of the New Government Center.
Ceremonial lighting of each Belen was held last night that was led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and contest chairman Councilor Homer Bais.
Leonardia is inviting all Bacoleños to visit the NGC and see for themselves the artistic and beautifully done Belens which he said is a manifestation of the creative spirit of the Bacoleños.
Winning entries will receive P40,000, P30,000 and P20,000 for the first, second and third place, respectively while non-winning entries will receive P5,000 each. Judging started last December 16 and will end on December 22.
The entries are as follows: Artisan (Peter Jason Reyes, Nimrod Reyes, Billy Arevalo, Hazel Maronny and Benjamin Segodini); Grupo Pag-asa (Patrick Payumo, RJ Payumo, David Payumo, Anita Payumo, Cris Rosales, Silver Anthony, and Elena Agravante); Genaro Buddy Gopio III; Christmas in our Hearts (Cris Rosales, Aljun Puerta, Lyster Dingcong, and Jenny Belisa); Bata-Batuta (Josephine Noble, Faith Joy Lumawag, Brian Joy Lumawag, Quennie Macatinpag and Ian Macatinpag); and, M.A.C. (Anthony Mayang, Joy Mayang, Rene Aranda and Edgardo Catalan, Jr.).
