PRISAA XI shocks Barotac and Sta. Barbara in Integrated Football Meet 2009
Prisaa Elementary Football Team Integrated Meet 2009 Champions.The PRISAA Elementary Football Team, composed mainly of players from Paref-Westbridge School, won the Elementary Football Championship of the Iloilo Schools Sports Council Athletic Association Meet 2009 via a 2-1 victory over the Barotac Team of District 4.
Carlo Dalisay, Grade 6 student of Westbridge School, weaved through the Barotac defenders and made the go-ahead goal in the 5th minute of the game. The 2nd goal came from a header by Angelicum student, Jonas Oren, from a cross pass by Dalisay at the 47th minute of play.
A scramble in front of the PRISAA goal in the dying minutes of the game enabled Barotac to close the gap through an own goal, though it proved too late as time expired.
The win enables the PRISAA Elementary Football Team to represent Iloilo for the first time in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet on February 21-26, 2010 in Kalibo, Aklan.
During the elimination rounds of the Integrated Meet, the PRISAA strikers won over Iloilo City 4-0, Barotac 3-0 and a pulsating penalty shoot-out with Sta. Barbara of District 2 at 2-0. Renz Portigo of Westbridge School shut-out Sta. Barbara as he saved all 4 penalty shots by the Sta. Barbara kickers.
