Cuartero progressive even with no prov’l aid: Flores
CUARTERO, Capiz – Shouting his battle cry ‘Todo Asenso Cuartero’, Mayor Roger Flores said that his town is more progressive than other towns in the second district even without provincial aid.
“Let’s make Cuartero stand on its own without us depending on the provincial government,” Flores said before hundreds of municipal employees and barangay officials during a Christmas party held at the town’s civic center last Dec. 22, 2009.
“We have our own resources to fund our projects,” he said. He added that the employees and barangay officials should be united so that basic services could easily be given to their constituents.
Flores is identified with 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro (Lakas, Kampi). He is a staunch critic of Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr, a Liberal Party bet. On the other hand, Castro is an ally of Former Department of Agriculture Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante of Ugyon Kita Capiz party who is an opponent of Tanco in the gubernatorial race in the 2010 elections.
Flores said he never sleeps on his job. He became the town’s chief executive since 2004 up to the present and had been making developments here, he said.
Flores said that the Christmas bonus of the town’s regular employees is P15,000.00 and casuals is P5,000 while the barangay officials and volunteer teachers of Maindang and San Antonio will be given cash gifts.
Meanwhile, Tanco’s camp strongly denied Flores’ allegation that the province has no projects nor has aided Cuartero.
Accordingly, the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Tanco gave projects directly to the barangay captains for the projects’ implementation and were not coursed through the mayor being an opponent of the present administration.
