Bacolod to mark 113th death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal
Bacolod City. The Bacolod City government with the Department of Education (DepEd) will mark Wednesday, December 30, the 113th Death Anniversary of the country’s National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal with the theme “Lipad na Pangarap.”
Ceremonies will start at the Rizal Park, fronting Rizal Elementary School, at 7:30am to be attended by DepEd and Bacolod City officials led by Lone District Rep. Monico Puentevella and Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
In the program, officials will be hoisting the ten Philippine flags led by Cong. Puentevella and Mayor Leonardia who will also give their respective messages.
The affair is participated in by nearly 30 Non-Government Organizations and various government agencies.
Schools Division Superintendent of Bacolod City Gemma Ledesma, CESO V, and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent John Arnold Siena will represent DepEd.
The same officials with Vice Mayor Thaddeus Sayson will also lead in the offering of flowers.
Rizal Elementary School Principal IV, Carmen Navarro said the activity is an annual celebration and commemoration of Dr. Jose Rizal’s death anniversary.
She said the national hero’s life and aspirations remain relevant in today’s Philippine modern times especially his immortal line -“The youth is the hope of our motherland.”
Navarro said Filipinos should emulate Rizal’s heroic acts in defending the country from enemies and extol his loyalty to the country.
In Manila, various activities were scheduled on December 30 that includes reenactment of Rizal’s Walk from fort Santiago to Luneta spearheaded by Knights of Rizal with Dep Ed, KAGUNARI, the Rizalistas and the NPDC.
President Gloria M. Arroyo will be at the Rizal Monument in Baguio City while Vice President Noli de Castro was invited as guest of honor at the Wreath Laying Rites, Rizal National Monument, a report from Malacañang, said (PIA-LOL)
