Police face a blank wall on taxi driver’s death
POLICE have yet to identify the suspect who stabbed dead a taxi driver Saturday night at Barangay Hinactacan, La Paz. He is believed to be a victim of a hold up.
Police identified the victim as Nolan Tupas, 49 of Hibao-an, Pavia. He sustained fatal stab wounds on his face, chest and back. He was found few meters away from the taxi cab he is driving.
Probers from the Lapaz police station initially ruled it was a case of a hold up. However, Rommel Fernandez, owner of the taxi, which Tupas is driving, believes otherwise since the victim’s personal belongings such as his wristwatch, wallet and mobile phones are intact.
Fernandez owns two units of taxi and Tupas drives one unit in 24 hour basis. He has known the victim as a good and responsible driver.
The victim’s wife Belinda said his husband has no enemy and has not quarreled with anyone that resulted to his husband’s death. She added the victim has been a taxi driver since 1992. He stopped in 2007 and worked again as a taxi driver late last year.
