Iloilo solon cites housing project for city urban poor
Iloilo City lone district Rep. Raul Gonzalez Jr. stressed that his office is responsive to the concerns of the urban poor, especially on housing.
In line with this he clarified that his office shelled out P1-million for the construction of houses at the city-owned 16-hectare relocation site in Brgy. San Isidro, Jaro.
The solon said 60 houses are already completed out of the 100 housing units that are being constructed at the Don Delfin Gonzalez Gawad Kalinga Village.
He issued the statement to clarify a report that the housing project was owned by the city government.
Instead, he said that the project is a joint project of his office, the city government and the Gawad Kalinga.
The San Isidro relocation site is expected to host to almost 2,000 housing units, serving as a showcase of good public-private partnership working together to address some of the city’s major concerns. (PNA)
