DOLE told to set up a desk at One-Stop Shop
BACOLOD CITY — The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City recently passed a unanimous resolution respectfully requesting the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to install an information desk in the registration area for business permit for the whole month of January 2010 to provide information and updates for all businessess in Bacolod in compliance with all national labor standards and labor relations procedures.
Proponent City Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue said that since our government upholds the right to decent work of every individual residing and working in every respective place, hence, it is incumbent that a conducive workplace must be provided.
“Bacolod City upholds the right to decent work of every individual residing and working in the city, as a city conductive as a workplace, it is the duty of the local government to encourage and enjoin all companies to comply and abide with all existing national laws and labor standards to ensure industrial peace and harmony,” Batapa-Sigue added.
She reiterated that the issue of non-compliance with various labor standards and labors relations procedures has been raised by many concerned labor organizations in Bacolod.
She emphasized that through active information dissemination by the City of Bacolod simultaneous with the registration of business, this concerns would somehow be addressed positively at the start of the year.
Early last week, the Bacolod City Government’s one-stop shop for issuance of business permits and licenses started its operation and it is now on its second week of operation until February 12, 2010. All government offices involved in the renewal had set up its offices to provide convenience to all business entities most particularly on the efficient and effective processing of business permits and licenses.
