Clarice Helene Guadarrama Saulog: 2010 Queen of Jaro
Clarice Helene, is the younger of two daughters of banker-businessman, Raul Saulog of Imus, Cavite and Jarena, Maria Gloria Jalandoni Guadarrama. Granddaughter of Dr. Carlos Guadarrama and Teresa Jalandoni, she has spent every Christmas of her life, special occasions and vacations in Jaro. “We make it a point to go up the stairs at the Cathedral and visit Our Lady of Candelaria every time we are in Jaro”, she says.
She completed her basic education and high school at Assumption College in San Lorenzo Village in Makati City, in keeping with the educational tradition of Jalandoni women. She played Volleyball and was Class Secretary.
A voracious reader with an innate love for the written word, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree, major in English Literature at the Ateneo de Manila University where made it to the Dean’s List. Her graduation thesis was Formalist Reading of First Prize Winners of the Carlos Palanca Award on the Short Story.
A seasoned worldwide traveler, she enjoys visits to museums, cultural monuments and quaint places out of the usual tourist beaten tract. When traveling with the family, “we usually check on the music and the bookstores for rare finds and those not available at home. We seek places to dine from all stars to no stars.”
Clarice is presently employed honing her skills in marketing research projects of consumer product companies, and in this political season, politicians running for public office. It is a job that consumes much time, effort, energy, and tons of patience, a veritable eye-opener for someone who is starting out a career.
A rare honor and privilege to be the Queen of Jaro, she hopes to renew her Jareno heritage and hopes to be one with the youth to aspire and set life goals and be the best that they can be.
