1st OSH regional summit preps on
Preparations for the first regional occupational safety and health (OSH) summit in Western Visayas have already started.
Recently, the Department of Labor and Employment 6, along with other members of the Regional OSH Network Core Group, met to discuss activities and other concerns related to the holding of the summit which is tentatively scheduled on March 5, 2010 in Iloilo City.
The Regional OSH Network Core Group was organized last December 11, 2009. It is composed of representatives of the management sector, labor sector, academe, health organization, safety organization, professional groups and media.
The one-day event primarily aims to create greater awareness and participation among participants in the implementation of OSH standards.
It further seeks to review OSH standards and legislation and highlight the best OSH practices of some companies for possible benchmaking.
The Regional OSH Summit is part of the continued effort of DOLE to attain healthy, safe and productive workplaces in the country to increase productivity under its Zero Accident program. (PIA)
