NBI, PNP clears Cano Tan in illegal drugs charge
BACOLOD CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Provincial and City Police Offices have cleared the name of congressional candidate Ricardo “Cano” Tan from the Order of Battle and Drugs’ Watch List.
NBI Bacolod head Atty. Mamerto Cortez said recently that upon his verification with the NBI Master File, “nothing on record showed the name of Ricardo “Cano” L. Tan in the Order of Battle and in the Drugs’ Watch List. He has never been charged or prosecuted for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act.”
He added that “we have an updated record and nothing in the Bureau’s file that showed his name in the drugs’ list.”
Cano Tan has no criminal record especially on illegal drugs since then, Cortez said.
Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, Bacolod City Police Director, also said that Cano Tan’s name never appeared in their record insofar as violation of RA 9165.
“It’s negative,” Guara said.
Provincial Police Director Senior Supt. Manuel Felix said that upon verification with the NOPPO Intelligence record, “none of his name Cano Tan or Ricardo “Cano” Tan appeared in our record, thus we issued a certification clearing his name from the Order of Battle and Drugs’ Watch List.”
