ROXAS CITY – About 200 participants are expected to attend the cultural summit on March 14 at the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) Convention Center in Barangay Dayao, here as part of the activities of the One Visayas One People One Destiny celebration.
The four-day celebration that will commence on March 11 will gather participants coming from local government units, regional agencies, state universities and colleges and private sector groups of Regions 6, 7 and 8.
The conference will address issues on the cohesive promotion and development of One Visayan culture and arts as an important tool for the development of the country.
Engr. Gilberto Altura of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office VI said during the preparatory meeting for the celebration last Feb. 3 that the use of information and communication technology in the preservation of culture and heritage will be among the various topics for the summit.
“The output from the summit will be a big research project,” he noted.
The day-long activity will be participated in by government officials, artists, cultural workers and tourism officers, among others.
During the meeting, a logo for this year’s One Visayas celebration was presented to the members of the local Executive Committee chaired by Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco for comments and revisions.
The proposed logo will be also presented to the Regional Development Council (RDC) – 6 meeting on Feb. 24 in Antique for adoption.
