Probe up vs cop identified with Gonzalez
A police major is now under investigation for allegedly harassing residents of Brgy. Pala-Pala Zone 2, Iloilo City over the weekend.
No less than PNP Regional Director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas wanted that an in-depth investigation be conducted against Chief Insp. Musa Amiyong, deputy chief of the Iloilo City Public Safety Management Company.
“I already instructed (Iloilo City Police Office director) Senior Supt. (Melvin) Mongcal to probe Amiyong and make his recommendations,” he added.
Cuevas stressed, “nobody is above the law. I received a report on that alleged harassment that’s why, I directed Senior Supt. Mongcal to investigate because Amiyong is under him.”
The region’s top cop instructed Mongcal to contact witnesses and get their statements.
Reports on Amiyong’s harassment allegedly started when he went to Brgy. Rizal Pala-Pala 2 in civilian clothes and brandishing his handgun.
One of the complainants claimed that he was having coffee when he saw Amiyong driving a motorcycle and armed with a handgun holstered on his thigh.
The complainant, a barangay kagawad, initially wondered why Amiyong stared intently at him.
It was then that he realized that he was wearing a t-shirt bearing the words: “Nobody, nobody but you.”
To note, the said slogan was used by some supporters to prod Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas to run for Iloilo City’s lone congressional seat against incumbent Cong. Raul Gonzalez, Jr.
The complainant immediately went to his house while Amiyong immediately left the area.
But seconds later, the police officer was seen stopping in front of the house where a tarpaulin of Treñas and Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog, a mayoralty candidate running against Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez, Sr., was prominently displayed.
He again looked intently and asked the house owner, who happened to Brgy. Capt. Myrna Rey.
Shortly later, Amiyong left and proceeded to an undisclosed direction.
Meanwhile, Amiyong denied that he was harassing any person.
Instead, he claimed that he could not risk his career for such acts.
On top of that, the beleaguered cop claimed, “Indi ko ya tuta (of Gonzalez).”
He added that he is ready to face his detractors for a confrontation, even in front of Treñas.
