Visayas LGUs gear up for 2nd ONE Visayas celebration
As a follow up to the success of last year’s ONE Visayas Celebration held in Cebu City, the Regional Development Councils of Eastern, Central and Western Visayas will hold the 2nd ONE Visayas Celebration on March 11-14, 2010 in Roxas City to be hosted by the Province of Capiz.
This year’s summit theme is “Heroes and Nationalism” with the tag line “One People, One Destiny”. The four-day affair will showcase the distinct arts, history, culture and festivals of the Visayas regions composed of 16 provinces.
A host of performers, artists and other participants coming from the three regions will provide attraction during the festivity. It will feature songs, dances, theater, arts and culture, food and products of the islands. To cap the four-day celebration, a ONE Visayas Summit will be conducted at the Gerry Roxas Foundation Conference Room, Roxas City. Topics will include the heroes and distinguished families of the three Visayas regions and the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in promoting and preserving culture, arts and heritage.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is slated to grace the affair as the opening day keynote speaker. Various national and local officials, foreign dignitaries and other special guests have already indicated their support and attendance to the 2nd ONE Visayas celebration. (Yvette G.
