Search for the TOSP 2010 for Region VI is on
Nominations from tertiary institutions in Westen Visayas are now accepted for this year’s nationwide search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP).
Started in 1961 by businessman Jose Concepcion, Jr. of the RFM Corporation, TOSP produced outstanding contributors in various fields of endeavor like late Senator Raul Roco, his wife Sonia Malasarte-Roco, former Senator Rene Saguisag, media person Ricardo Puno, and a lot more who have exemplified individual niche in nation building.
For a period of years, all entries were screened on a national level–until in 1994, when regional awarding rites were held, but it was only in 2005 when Region VI integrated a formation workshop to further exemplify TOSP as a movement towards volunteerism and commitment.
This year, Iloilo will host the formation workshop scheduled on April 5–11, 2010. Behind this event is the TOSP 2010 Regional Executive Committee headed by Atty. Joenar Pueblo, Commission on Higher Education, RFM Foundation, and the TOSP Alumni Community–Region VI.
Parts of the one-week workshop are activities geared towards national consciousness and community empowerment.
Deadline for this year’s nomination is on March 26. Venue of submission is in CHEDRO-VI at # 12 Washington Street, Jaro, Iloilo City 5000.
