City DSSD serves 35,593 Bacoleños in 2009
The Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) served a total of 35,593 Bacoleños with different services and programs implemented in the year 2009.
The DSSD annual accomplishment report shows that the identified beneficiaries comprised of: 1,149-head of the family; 6,318 – mothers; 10,811 – children; 355 – youth; 3783 – senior citizens; 815 – disabled persons; and 12, 362 needy distressed persons.
The beneficiaries were classified by the DSSD for the services and programs on health, education, social development, livelihood, practical skills trainings, and seminars and among others.
The report also shows the programs were funded from the following sources: general fund; AIP; Local Government Unit (LGU); DSWD Region VI; Mrs. Smith; RAMCHAM; RGG Sports Center; Negros Sportsmen, Inc.; New Negros Colisem; Alay Lakad Committee; CCWDP; Brgy. Council; Coun. Gamboa; and Persons Social Program (PPSAP).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city will continue to pursue its commitment to provide assistance and to promote and protect the welfare of the poor through implementing more programs, projects and services to improve the quality of life of the Bacoleños
DSSD under Sally Abelarde, as a welfare agency serves as a bridge between the LGU and the people for the delivery of required government programs and services to Bacoleños for a better standard of living.
