LP Capiz bets rule latest survey
ROXAS CITY — The Liberal Party (LP) slate headed by Noynoy Aquino for president and Mar Roxas for vice president swept the whole province of Capiz and its capital Roxas City with wide margins over the second running team, according to results of the latest scientific survey conducted by the reputable Random Access Consultants Inc. (RACI), and released to the press recently.
The survey, conducted February 2-6, 2010 showed Noynoy Aquino for president with 44.1%; Manny Villar with 28%; Joseph Estrada with 5.9%; and Gibo Teodoro with 2.4%. Other candidates had less than 1% of the total votes.
For vice president Mar Roxas was the runaway winner with 66.5%; Loren Legarda had 11%; Jojo Binay with 8%, Edu Manzano with 8%; and Jun Yasay with 3%.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco who got 60.8% of the total voter preference, also handily won over his rival Jocelyn “Joc-joc” Bolante with 18% share. Bolante was marked with notoriety as a principal figure in the “P720-million fertilizer fund scam” exposed by Congress and hounded by the national press until recently.
Despite the much-publicized readiness of Bolante to spend heavily for his election campaign, Capiceños obviously remain unimpressed as they preferred the incumbent governor. Victor Tanco is widely respected as the unassuming but highly competent provincial chief executive of Capiz.
The Capiz survey also showed the LP bet for vice governor Esteban “Eban” Contreras comfortably ahead of his rival Mark Ortiz. The survey follows a similar regional trend where the Aquino-Roxas team came out clear winners in other parts of Western Visayas.
Random Access Consultants Inc. is a respected polling outfit based in Iloilo City. It is constituted by UP professors who are authorities in sociology, psychology and statistics, among other fields, according to Bombo Radyo who commissioned the surveys in Capiz, Iloilo and elsewhere in the country.
