Cabbie shot dead by gasoline boy
A taxi driver was killed while undergoing treatment after he was shot Wednesday afternoon at the Forbes LPG Station located at Alta Tierra Village, Brgy. Quintin Salas, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Verlo Flamiano, 26, of Brgy. MV Hechanova, Jaro district, succumbed to gunshot injuries on his stomach.
At around 3:00 p.m. of the said date, reports said that the victim proceeded to the gas station where a heated argument ensued between him and suspect Andres Andales III, 21, a native of Brgy Bog-ang, Toboso, Negros Occidental and a stay-in worker/cashier/pump boy of the gas station.
At the height of their verbal tussle, Flamiano allegedly tried to attack the suspect.
“Hambal niya, dako ang problema niya. Hambal ko, kung dako problema mo, guwa na ko da ya,” Andales claimed.
He added that there was no reason for him to intentionally hurt the victim, as they have harbored no grudge against each other prior to that.
“Ginkuha ko ang shotgun. Ginpasalba ko para ma stop lang siya bala. Umarangka pa siya,” Andales narrated.
The shotgun was issued to the gas station’s security guard.
But instead of putting it on a vault or an enclosed cabinet, the guard left it on Andales’ care.
For fear that the victim might take the firearm from him, the suspect claimed that he shot the victim.
Flamiano was then rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district but died two hours later.
On the other hand, joint elements of Regional Intelligence Division led by Senior Supt. Cornelio Defensor and Iloilo City Police Station 3 led by SPO1 Roberto Balgos arrested the suspect.
Andales is presently detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 3 pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
