Tanco answers issue on P683M loan
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. said here recently that the P683 million is not yet a loan but it is only a standby credit facility of the province to the bank.
This was revealed by Tanco during a political forum held at the Filamer Christian College on Tuesday, February 23.
He clarified that the proposed loan should not be treated as a scam since even previous administrations also incurred loans.
Asked what specific measures he will do to combat the ecological problem, he said that the problem like this should be treated as calamity in which preparedness and awareness should be done.
Tanco said, ecological problems caused El Niño phenomenon which should have a short term and long term solutions. The short term solution is to educate people on how to conserve water and the long term solution is to have a budget from the national government for the calamity.
Asked what he will do to combat the crisis, Tanco said that as governor, his agenda is captivating Capiz where he promoted eco-tourism, eco-cultural, vibrant economy. As evident of this Capiz is one among the provinces in Western Visayas which was declared as first class province including Iloilo and Negros.
The said political forum was also attended byTanco’s opponent former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante of Ugyon Kita Capiz (UCK) as well as party mates: Reelectionist Cong. Antonio del Rosario and former PNP Chief Ret. Gen. Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso of Liberal Party (LP).
The forum was also attended by Former 1st Distrit Cong. Rodriquez Dadivas and Diosdado Tinsay, all are independent candidates for congressman. They also presented their platforms of government.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Jane Castro, wife of 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro, candidate for 2nd district congressman was not around and Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo, candidate for 1st district congressman was also absent.
