BSP Iloilo to host 54th Nat’l Council Meeting
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Iloilo (Confesor) Council will host the 54th Annual National Council Meeting of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines to be held at Amigo Terrace Hotel on March 4-6, 2010. About 400 scouters from all over the country are expected to attend the national conference.
The BSP annual council meeting serves as the highest policy making body of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. This is where the major policies approved by the National Executive Board is presented to the body for final approval.
Atty. Arturo V. Umbac, 54th ANCM Conference chair, will open the ceremonies, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas and Governor Niel Tupas Sr. will welcome the delegates in behalf of the City and Province of Iloilo and Council Chairman Leganes Mayor Adolfo Jaen in behalf of the host council.
The formal declaration and opening of the 54th ANCM will be done by the BSP National President and Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Region Regional Scout Conference Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay. Jose Maru Pelaez, Executive Director, Center for Students and Co-corricular Affairs, Department of Education will introduce the Keynote Speaker DepEd Secretary Jesli A Lapus. And BSP Secretary General Jose Rizal Pangilinan will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
On the second day March 5, 2010 the 1st Plenary Session will be presided by the Congressman of Marikina City Del R. de Guzman, BSP Vice President for Luzon. And the 2nd plenary session will be presided over by Manuel Jose M. Dalipe, National Executive Board Member.
After the 1st Plenary Session a National Court of Honor will be conducted to honor extra-ordinary deeds and heroism of the country’s selected scouts and scouters.
On the first day the City of Iloilo headed by Mayor Treñas and members of the City Council will host a dinner. The Provincial Government was likewise scheduled to host the 2nd day dinner, however the Provincial Board under Vice Governor Rolex Suplico has tabled the budget proposal that as of press time the BSP Conference committee is anxious of the failure of the Provincial Board to allocate the same budget.
