Defensor, Tupas neck and neck in survey
A survey conducted by Random Access Consultants Inc. (RACI) in January 2010 commissioned by dyFM Bombo Radyo Iloilo showed that the fight for governor of the province is a neck and neck battle between Third District Rep. Arthur Defensor and Barotac Nuevo Mayor Raul Tupas, son of incumbent Gov. Niel Tupas Sr.
In the survey’s overall result aired over Bombo Radyo Iloilo, Tupas got 44.9 % while Defensor comes close with 39 %. Far third is candidate Josil Jaen with 1.2 %.
The survey conducted on the period January 26-31, 2010 had a sample size of 1,200 registered voters distributed in the province’s five districts. The margin of error is plus-minus 3 percent.
In the vice gubernatorial race, First District Board Member Richard Garin beat former Vice Governor Roberto Armada with 46.2 % as against the latter’s 33.7 %.
In the result for Board Members, in the First District incumbent Macario Napulan topped with 59.6 % followed by Carina Flores with 42.1 % and Gerardo Flores with 35.4 %.
In the Second District, incumbent Board Members Rodolfo Cabado and June Mondejar tied at 53.2% while former Vice Governor Demetrio Sonza got 28.4 %.
In the Third District, Licurgo Tirador got 57.3%, followed by Emmanuel Gallar with 52.7 % and Juanito Acanto, 30.4 %.
In the Fourth District, Hernan Biron Jr. got 43.6 %, Shalene Hidalgo–29.2%, Pablito Araneta – 25.6 % and Henry Anotado – 23.2 %.
In the Fifth District, Nielo Tupas got 60.8%, incumbent Board Member Jett Rojas – 41.2 %, and incumbent Board Member – Jesus Salcedo 36.5 %.
In the survey for congressional race the following are the results: First District, Janette Garin (unopposed) – 92.5 %; Second District, Augusto Syjuco – 53.7 %, Ramoncito Arenas – 16.8 %; Third District, Arthur Defensor Jr.–55.4 %, Rene Villa – 22.3 %, Zafiro Lauron – 8.8 %;
Fourth District, incumbent Rep. Ferjenel Biron – 51.2 %, Niel Tupas Sr.–33.6 %; Fifth District, Niel Tupas Jr.–54.6 %, Rolex Suplico – 33.1 %.
