4 G’s
I did a rough “national elections survey” with my co teachers last week in Ateneo High. Villar and Aquino tied on the top spot with Gordon placing third. The vice presidency is a runaway for Roxas.
For me: My heart is for Gordon, my soul whispers Aquino, and my mind says Teodoro.

My co-teachers also chose their senators and party list representatives.
The 12 senators (starting from highest vote garnered): Miriam, Drilon, Osmena, Recto, Cayetano, Hontiveros, Roco, Maza, Acosta, Guingona, Satur Ocampo, and Remulla. Smart choices.
For Party List: Gabriela, A Teacher, ACT Teachers, Partido ng Manggagawa, and Bayan Muna. Wiser Choices.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has urged all parents to immediately bring their children to the nearest health center if measles-like symptoms appear.
So far, the city has nine measles cases for the past two months. In some towns and barangays in the country, it is already considered an outbreak.

Pagasa will finally have its own permanent location in Guimbal, Iloilo after signing a memorandum of agreement with the local government of Guimbal just recently.
I just hope they have a phone line to use, too. I remember Pagasa having no phone connection for months few years ago. It was so shameful then.

As part of DOE’s ‘Philippine Energy Plan 2009-2030,’ Region VI is promised with
8-megwatt Villa Siga Hydro Power Plant in Antique; 23-megawatt Timbaban Hydro Power Plant in Aklan; 12-megawatt plant by the Asea One also in Aklan and the 17.5-megawatt plant by Global Green Power Panay in Iloilo, both of which will be utilizing biomass.
This is still not enough power to sustain the Ilonggos electrical needs. Why not consider a more efficient Nuclear Power Plant?

Proposed mitigating measures of the Region’s Department of Agriculture: irrigation and water availability, production support, financing component, information, education and communication and program management.
These plans sound good, but are they sound enough to put into flesh, or are they just pure lip services?

The US State Department has expressed deep concern that drug money could affect the outcome of the May 2010 general elections in the Philippines.
How about the 4 G’s: guns, goons, gold, and Gloriagate?

Tacloban City considered as the bailiwick of the Marcoses might go for Liberal Party’s standard-bearer, Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in the May presidential elections, his allies claimed recently.
That’s setting aside the 4 G’s, of course.

Commission on Elections Chair Jose Melo personally believes that the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan presidential candidate Vetellano Acosta should be disqualified from running for president for being a nuisance candidate.
Then amid their stringent way of screening candidates, why did they include his name in the first place? Acosta is a joke and an insult to the Filipino voters’ intellect. KBL’s vice presidential candidate Jay Sonza even disowns him!

of Fire Prevention (BFP) urges kaingineros or slash-and-burn farmers to be careful or altogether stop their activities to avoid another forest fire just like what happened to a mountain in Iloilo province.
I thought these primitive practices are not allowed anymore under the Clean Air Act?

Ilonggo cop SPO2 Nelson Boy Arduo, who went naked chasing a woman, is in hot water once more after he was caught by his live-in-partner sleeping with two other women.
Matulis na pulis.

Among University of the Philippines mass communication students at least, presidential candidate Sen. Richard Gordon is a winner, receiving 139 of the votes of 370 students.
If only all voters in the country are intellectuals.

The so-called Big 3 oil companies as well as an independent oil player raised their prices by as much as P1 per liter yesterday.
This is the wrath of deregulation.

The military has admitted to having offered P50,000 to members of the “Morong 43” but denied that the money was a bribe in exchange for the detainees’ confession of their involvement in the communist movement.
What then is it, a gift?
