400 cops to ensure peaceful One Visayas
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has designed a security plan for the 2nd One Visayas One People One Destiny celebration from March 11 to 14 at the Villareal Stadium here to ensure a safe, orderly and incident-free festival.
In a recent press conference, Capiz Police Director Senior Supt. Josepheus Angan said that about 400 policemen will be deployed for the celebration.
The province top cop was joined by Roxas City Police Station’s (RCPS) Chief of Police Supt. Leo Batiles during the media briefing.
“We will intensify the visibility of our policemen in the area to prevent incidents that can mar the celebration,” Angan stressed.
For his part, Batiles said that the various communication groups were tapped by the RCPS for the immediate reporting of crime-related cases that need police action.
The RCPS through its Traffic Section headed by SPO1 Gonzalo Andrada has also designed a traffic management plan to minimize traffic decongestion during the festival’s cultural performances along the major thoroughfares of the city.
Batiles noted that the policemen assigned to secure peace and order of the big tourism event will undergo a briefing to effectively carry out the security plan.
The four-day celebration that will be hosted by the Capiz provincial government will gather thousands of Visayan festival performers, practicing artists, artisan and onlookers, among others. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
