Bizman shot dead in Jaro
A businessman was shot dead yesterday morning several meters away from his home at Himoga-on Subdivision, Brgy. Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Reports said that 41-year old Jamel Chua Cury was walking to take a ride at a tricycle terminal when a lone gunman shot him at around 8:00 in the morning.
Two eyewitnesses claimed to have heard of lone gunshot. After which, the suspect fled on foot.
Cury sustained multiple pellet wounds.
He was rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center but declared dead at 8:50 a.m.
According to Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director Senior Supt. Melvin Mongcals, the two witnesses already gave their accounts on what happened.
“They were also able to identify the suspect through his face,” he added.
But Mongcal claimed that they have yet to identify the gunman’s identity.
For now, police investigators are closing in on the possibility that the incident is business-related.
Cury is into the sand and gravel business.
“We are looking at every angle although for now, we see no other reason aside from business,” Mongcal said.
It was gathered that Cury’s wife, with whom he has three children, is working in Malaysia.
