PIA’s announces ‘Iwag’ Awardees for 2010
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Region 6 announces 14 campus writers from Negros Occ. who qualified in its “IWAG” award for 2010.
The successful awardees include Mark Christopher Dueñas of the Lead, USLS-MC; Vicente Benjamin Gustilo-The Johnian Eagle, St, John’s Institute; Daniel Keith J. Bagayo- Wesneco Flame, WNU Integrated School; April Jean S. Canones- Ang Aninag, Neg.Occ. High School and John Jireh L. Coronel-The Fellowship Gem, Fellowship Baptist School, Binalbagan.
Other “Iwag” Awardees are: Shayne A. Exito of Starlight, UNO-R; Chad C. Cuico-The Thomasian Chronicle, Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos, San Carlos City; Emmanuel T. Galang-St. Benilde Chimes, St. Benilde School; Ma. Joenelle Grace Ploteña-Trinity Christian School and John Nelbert D. de la Cruz-The Villascope, Luis Hervias National High School.
Aedrel Maine C. Lim of the The Clarion, Bacolod Tay Tung High School; Rommel P. Depasusat-Tolentine Star, UNOR(college); Patricia Leslie Ollisa Santelices- The Eaglet, Colegio de San Agustin and Kris Angela Louise A. Dadivas- Ang Sinag, Handumanan National High School are also Iwag awardees for this year.
In Western Visayas there were 51 awardees. The Province of Aklan has 5, Antique-3, Capiz-9, Iloilo 20 and Negros Occ.,14.
“Iwag” Award is an incentive scheme designed by the PIA, Region 6, to give recognition to campus paper writers who excel in development communication.
Since 1977, the Phil. Information Agency has cited students for promoting national development through the campus publications.
The Search for 2010 “Iwag” Awardees, is PIA’s way of recognizing the outstanding performance of graduating student writers in the region, especially those who have actively participated in Basic Journalism Seminar workshops.
Each awardee will receive the “Iwag” Award Gold Medal and Citation to be given during the school’s graduation day or recognition day.
Awardees may now claim their medal and certificate at the Philippine Information Agency- Negros Occ. Information Center. (PIA/cad)
