PPCRV to deploy .5 million volunteers during May polls
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) is ready to deploy about half a million volunteers this May elections to help ensure that the political exercise would be clean, honest and orderly.
This was the assurance of Ambassador Henrietta de Villa, the national chairman of the PPCRV who was in Iloilo afternoon of Saturday to grace the 4th Msgr. Jose ‘Pepe’ Buenaflor Memorial Media Forum that was facilitated by the Katesismo sa Kahanginan Apostolate and held at the John Paul Hall II of the Archbishops Residence here.
The PPCRV will be focusing on two major functions which are poll watching during the day of the polls and voter’s education.
She disclosed that since September last year, the PPCRV has been conducting voter’s education which is “doing well.”
De Villa added they are banking on the wide reach of the 3,000 parishes nationwide to be able to assist them in their campaign.
Voters have been briefed about the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine while voter’s booklets will be provided to parishes, she said.
Meanwhile, de Villa urged Filipino voters to be not easily swayed by celebrity endorsers.
“Have your own standard. It should be your own choice, your own decision,” she said. (PNA)
