Capiz to host ‘Int’l Dance Xchange’
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz provincial government will host the “Dance Xchange: 2nd Philippine International Dance Workshop and Festival” from April 15 to 20 to strengthen the network among dance organizations as well as diplomatic relations among participating countries.
Dance companies from the different countries have been invited by the organizers to have a venue for a dialogue and to present the different forms of dance, said an online article posted at www.capiztour.wordpress.com.
The upcoming activity aims to provide a venue for interaction and facilitate learning among dancers, directors, dance teachers, choreographers, tourism and cultural officers and dance scholars.
It will also provide new ideas and inspiration that will stimulate the creativity of the dance educators, directors and choreographers and showcase the unique dances of each country to facilitate cultural understanding.
“The gathering will also give a chance for the province to set a Guinness World Record for having the largest international dance festival in various forms,” noted Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus Tesoro.
An afternoon street dancing will open the Dance Xchange.
The opening of the festival on April 15 coincides with the highlight of the provincial government’s 109th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the civil government and commemoration of Pres. Manuel Roxas death anniversary. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
