‘Sex worker’ stabbed dead
An alleged freelance sex worker was found dead yesterday morning along Brgy. Loboc, La Paz, Iloilo City.
Residents found the body of Joy Galaura, 22, who hails from Buenavista in Guimaras province which bore multiple stab wounds.
According to La Paz Police Station chief Chief Insp. Giovanni Musico, their initial check revealed that Galaura had 19 stab injuries, mostly on the face and chest, possibly inflicted by an ice pick.
“It is apparent, from her stab injuries, that the suspect had so much hatred on her,” he theorized.
Musico opined that the incident could have been triggered by the victim’s alleged work.
“Reports claimed that she is a freelance sex worker. Maybe, she has offended a lover,” the La Paz PNP chief added.
La Paz police investigators believed that Galaura’s body was just tossed in the area and that she was killed elsewhere.
Musico said that there were no bloodstains on the area where the victim was found.
The night before she was murdered, reports claimed that Galaura was seen at Port San Pedro with some of her girl friends.
Pending the result of the autopsy on the victim’s body, Musico said that they could not rule if Galaura was sexually molested.
“But her clothes were still intact when she was found,” Musico added.
The discovery of Galaura’s body was only reported to La Paz Police Station by PO2 Argue Japinillo at around 6:00 a.m.
Several residents saw the body and reported it to the policeman.
