IPG supports Earth Hour
The Iloilo Provincial Government (IPG) will also join the Earth Hour on March 27, 2010 to heighten the awareness of the people in the Province of Iloilo of a collective action on climate change.
Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. had already issued a memorandum for the IPG employees encouraging them to support this global cause on their own little way by switching off their lights and other electrical appliances at home from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the said date.
He said the entire power supply of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol (old and new) and its facilities at the Iloilo Sports Complex will also be turned off.
The Arroyo Fountain, which is now under the care of the IPG, will serve as landmark of this event in the City of Iloilo. This will be lighted off for an hour as symbol of hope for a cause.
The governor likewise appealed to the people of the entire province of Iloilo to support this cause as collective action on climate change.
Earth Hour is a global event organized by World Wide Fund for Nature and being held on the last Saturday of March annually. It was first observed in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and later adopted in many countries around the world in 2008 including Philippines. (Capitol News/ICE)
