City distributes Certificates of Lot Allocation to 71 residents
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, on behalf of the Bacolod City government, distributed recently Certificates of Lot Allocation to 71 beneficiaries of public land in Barangay 1.
Leonardia said that these 71 residents were the first group to receive the certificate and that the city government will ensure that more Barangay 1 residents will be able to benefit from this program.
The mayor stressed that this particular program of the city government enables the beneficiaries to own the lot where their houses presently stand and allows them to settle permanently in their present residence.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus A. Sayson, on the other hand, said that this project is in partnership forged with the Department of Environment and Natural resources through a memorandum of agreement.
City Environment and Natural Resources officer Joan Nathaniel F. Gerangaya said that a survey they had conducted in Barangay 1 showed that about 600 houses need to be provided with certificates of lot allocation. He also said that their office is now working on the next batch of recipients of the said certificate.
The certificates issued by the city government yesterday are nontransferable and non-negotiable and must be presented to the CENRO upon filing of the appropriate public land application to show proof of entitlement.
