‘Search for Most Outstanding Women’ launched
SAN JOSE, Antique — Hundreds of women from all walks of life went out of the streets and joined in the parade in San Jose, Antique’s major thoroughfares and the program in celebration of the women’s month at EBJ gymnasium.
The month-long observance of the Women’s Month was made more meaningful with the launching of the year-long ‘Search for Most Outstanding Women’ in three categories namely; Most Outstanding Nanay, Most Enterprising Women and Pangkabuhayan Package beneficiaries. Details and nomination guidelines for the search can be obtained from the Provincial Women’s Desk.
The Provincial Government has released a total of P450, 000 for the past three years to fund the livelihood projects of Pangkabuhayan Package beneficiaries.
Governor Salvacion Z. Perez in her message reiterated her all out support to gender friendly programs particularly empowering women to become active partners in development. She also recognized other top women leaders in the person of Vice Governor Rhodora Cadiao and SP Member Rosie Dimamay.
Guest speakers were also accomplished women in their fields of endeavor such as Professor Florenda Española of Ugsad Gender Resource Center and Estella Paredes, Chief Economic Development Specialist of NEDA.
Other activities for the month-long celebration are Medical and Dental Mission in identified depressed communities, symposium in schools featuring various topics on women empowerment, proper hygiene and sanitation, climate change among others and radio programs with topics on women and environment, in governance, in labor and employment, nutrition and sanitation, violence and abuse and sexual harassment in the work place.
