LP’s dominance in poll survey cause UKC demoralization?
ROXAS CITY – Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC) party is not in any way unfazed by the result of a survey commissioned by a radio station showing Liberal Party (LP) candidates on top.
Rumors have it that UKC candidates are demoralized by the survey result.
Last week, Radyo Mo Nationwide (RMN) poll survey revealed that LP almost dominated the survey over opponent UKC from congressmen, governor, vice governor, provincial board members city mayor and city vice mayor.
Only Lakas Kampi-CMD (UKC affiliate) congressional candidate Mrs. Jane Castro, wife of last termer 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro, overwhelmingly led the survey over her opponent former PNP Chief and Retired Gen. Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso of LP.
But City Liga President Wilson Acervo, chair of the committee on mass media affairs, said that the UKC is unfazed of the survey.
“I’m not questioning the validity of the survey because that is their opinions,” Acervo said in an interview with Noel Valentino over Arangka program, shown at Filvision/Alto Cable.
“But what if after the election, the result will be different from the survey?” Acervo said adding that those media entity as well as those publishing the results, will loss their credibility “and once they loss their credibility, they will likewise loss advertisers,” he added.
Acervo, who is an ally of City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, said that candidates should present their platform of government and vision for their constituents and not engage in mudslinging.
Earlier, LP bets dominated the survey against opponents UKC bets conducted in Roxas City and whole province of Capiz on March 20-21, 2010.
Mr. Rudy Tamayo, RMN research director, clarified that the survey is part of the Tatak RMN campaign to deliver responsive public service. It covers 33 key cities in the country including Roxas City.
It was learned that the survey was commissioned by RMN national. Over 4,000 random respondents were asked in face-to-face interview who would they vote for in certain positions, assuming that the election was held today. The margin of error is (+) or (-) 2.5 percent.
RMN said that the survey was only trending on the part of candidates who led the survey as there is a high percentage of undecided voters.
