New ICPO chief hints of possible reshuffling
Under the leadership of newly-designated Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, anything is possible. And this includes reshuffling of personnel.
Shortly after his assumption of office, Basngi said that he might reshuffle officers.
However, “I’m not really into the point now where I could if there is a reshuffling or not. I’m just newly-assigned at hindi ko nakasama ang mga personnel dito,” he added.
Basngi admitted that it might take time for him to know the standard of how the key officers of ICPO work.
To note, it was only this month that the chiefs of police of Molo and La Paz police stations were appointed to their post.
Chief Insp. Jay Malong of Molo Police Station replaced Senior Insp. Danilo delos Santos while Chief Insp. Chief Insp. Giovanni Musico succeeded Senior Insp. Alexander Rosales.
Before the replacement, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas was vocal in his proposition to have Delos Santos and Rosales replaced with another personnel.
On the other hand, Chief Insp. Noel Lamsis only assumed office as the City Proper Police Station chief two weeks ago.
He replaced Senior Insp. Federico Silvestre who would retire from the police service soon.
For now, Basngi said that he wanted all district police stations to continue and, if possible, intensify the conduct of checkpoints.
He will also instruct his subordinate commanders to double their police visibility efforts in a bid to solve the criminalities in the area and to serve as deterrent to criminalities.
“I want them to remain vigilant in the performance of their duties,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Basngi said that he is ready to face his new job amid the perceived intense political atmosphere in Iloilo City.
Back when he was still a young major in 1998, the city police chief claimed that he was assigned in Nueva Ecija province, an area known for its heated political rivalries.
