Bacolod to hold Media Forum on Urban Health
The Bacolod City Government, in coordination with the Department of Health, is set to conduct a media forum on the celebration of the Year of Urban Health and the 2010 World Health Day on April 7 to 11.
The media forum will be held on April 8, 9:30 a.m. at the New Government Center and will be attended by representatives of the local media outlets and concerned departments of the city government.
This year’s celebration of the World Health Day focuses on urbanization and health.
Reports from the Department of Health said that the theme “urbanization and health” was selected for World Health Day in recognition of the effect urbanization has on the collective health globally and individually.
Urbanization, the reports said, is associated with many health challenges related to water, environment, violence and injury, non-communicable diseases and their risk factors like tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol as well as the risks associated with disease outbreaks.
