Iloilo City has 40,000 new registrants, says Comelec
Iloilo City has about 40,000 new registered voters based on the official list of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here.
The number also includes those who have decided to transfer their voting registration to Iloilo City.
City elections assistant officer Jonathan Sayno, however said that the number could not really be felt because around 40,000 registered voters were also dropped from the rolls after their failure to vote in two previous elections, some of them died already.
The city has a total of 243,861 registered voters who are expected to cast votes during the May 10 polls.
Jaro district, he said, has the most number of voters with 60,767, followed by Molo with 41,522; City Proper, 36,439; Lapaz, 30,160; Mandurriao, 29,879; Arevalo, 25,578; and Lapuz, 19,516.
Sayno said that the Comelec has 344 clustered precincts that will be accommodated in 68 polling centers.
Meantime, he said that by April 10 the book of voters are expected to be already sealed and will be opened only during the elections day on May 10. (PNA)
