109th Capiz anniversary, int’l dance tilt takes off today
ROXAS CITY – The celebration of 109th founding anniversary of Capiz with the commemoration of 62nd death anniversary of President Manuel Roxas and international dance exchange tilt kicks off today.
The opening salvo of the affair today will start from the Tagbuaanay (people’s parade) participated by 16 towns from Villareal Stadium to Immaculate Conception Cathedral then, Misa Pasasalamat, Bunga/Bunggad, Fiesta Capiznon, Patubas, Huwaran, Tiangge/Kusina sa Parke and Hataw Capiz.
The 109th Capiz anniversary dubbed as Capiztahan 2010 with President Manuel Roxas’s death anniversary will be celebrated on April 13 – 15 while the 2nd International Dance Exchange will also be held on April 15 – 18 at the Villareal Stadium.
Mr. Al Teroso, provincial tourism officer, said in a press conference held at the Poolside Pavilion, Villareal Stadium last week, that they already coordinated with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), business sectors, city government to cooperate with the affairs.
According to him, a presentation of dance performers from ten countries such as USA, England, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Cuba, Taiwan and Hongkong and 20 groups from different provinces of the country will also be shown during the 2nd International Dance Exchange tilt on April 15 – 18.
He added that the commemoration of 62nd death anniversary of Pres. Manuel Roxas will be held on April 15 which was declared as non-working holiday in the whole province.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr said that the province will be having a dual celebration in which Capiz is not only going to go regional, national but international since several countries will come in and participate in the dance exchange.“This is something good for Capiz,” Tanco said.
The governor also said that the founding anniversary is Capiz’s birthday so the people should be united as we are proud of being Capiceños. “We have to unite and set aside politics for a while which divide us and celebrate the Capiz anniversary,” Tanco appealed.
